Automobile Business Plan: Four Steps to Success

Like other business plans, the contents of an automobile dealership business plan cover four primary steps towards success. These steps are “opportunity”, “capacity”, “activities”, and “results”.

Opportunity

The industry, customer, and competitive analysis in your business plan proves the opportunity. This should identify that customers in your local market are in need of a dealer of the type you’ve chosen to be because competitors are not fully serving their needs, or because their demographics are changing (more population, richer, poorer, more families, etc.) The opportunity could also be that a certain combination of services by your dealership could improve on what competitors are currently doing. The overall industry situation should look ahead to how the car sales market will be doing six months, one year, or more in the future, when the dealership will actually be open.

Capacity

The experience of the management team, your license as a car dealer, and the financial resources the partners can bring to the table cover the capacity of the entrepreneur to jump on this opportunity. Funders reading the business plan expect that there will also be an element of cash missing from the entrepreneur’s capacity at the moment. Otherwise, they would not be reading the plan in the first place.

Activities

Marketing and operations plans cover the activities the company will engage in to bring in car buyers (and car sellers if you are a used car dealer as well), and run the business as efficiently as possible. As a small car dealer, consider how you can make up for this lack of scale, and the cost savings that come with it for dealer chains, through creativity and hard work.

Results

Finally, the projections of business success and financial section of the plan show the results that you and investors should expect. If results take into account the full costs of the methods you’ve described, and include adequate compensation for staff and key team players, readers will be less likely to question elements on the cost side. If your revenue projections are based on reasonable, researched assumptions about the car buying behavior of your local market, then readers will be more likely to accept this side of the projections as well.

It Pays to Know the Types of Automobile Liability Insurance

Purchasing automobile insurance can become confusing, quickly.  Knowing the types of coverage can certainly help clarify in your mind what you are doing when buying insurance.  Many states have laws about minimum coverage.  Lenders also require certain coverage to be carried while the vehicle is being paid off.  Liability insurance is certainly something you are going to have to know about.

There are actually several types of liability insurance.  They are as follows:

Bodily Injury Liability (BI) – This insurance covers bodily injury to other people or death for which you may be responsible in an accident.  This insurance also helps to provide for a lawyer if someone else in the accident decides to file a lawsuit against you.  Bodily injury claims can be for medical bills, loss of income or pain and suffering.  The basic idea is to have enough coverage to cover a judgment against you in a lawsuit and therefore protecting our personal assets.  Remember, BI liability is for injury to people, not your vehicle.  So, it is a good idea (and often required) that you have the same level of coverage for all of your vehicles.  Remember, BI liability doesn’t cover you or other people on your policy.  This insurance is mandatory in most states.

Some things to consider in purchasing bodily liability insurance: If damages in an accident for which you are responsible exceed the limits of your coverage, you will be personally responsible for the amount that exceeds the limits.  That may mean having to sell property, turn over savings, and liquidating other assets.  It may also mean that future earnings could be secured.  So, BI liability insurance is about protecting yourself against risk.

Property Damage Liability (PD) – This coverage is here in case your car damages someone else’s property. Typically, that is their car, but it could be any property damaged in an accident (house, fence, etc.).  It also provides you with a lawyer if you happened to be sued as the result of an accident.  So, again, you will want enough coverage to cover the amount of damage your vehicle might do in an accident.  Coverage is limited to the terms and conditions contained in the policy.

Again, the idea is provide enough coverage to protect yourself financially.  Your personal assets can be at risk if damages exceed the limits of coverage as stated in your policy.

Online Arizona – Mesa Auto Education – Defining How The Automobile Internal Combustion Engine Works

The internal combustion engine was invented in 1890 by Wilhelm Maybach. This was a 4 cylinder, four stroke engine. Many vehicles of today are using his basic design. Major engine improvements have taken mold, as the internal combustion engine has evolved. The basic operation of your auto engine is four to eight pistons are violently manipulated by an explosion of an Air/Fuel mixture careening the piston and connecting rod; moving the crankshaft, creating rotary inertia (circular motion). These circular movements are then converted into kinetic inertia (forward movement) through the transmission and power-train. I will now explain the 4 strokes of the internal combustion engine, read more.

Stroke 1: The Intake Stroke – Air and fuel are drawn into the combustion chamber with the intake valve open. At this time the exhaust valve is closed.

Stroke 2: Compression Stroke – Both valves being closed the fuel mixture that was drawn in from stroke 1 will be compressed. Preparing the air and fuel to be ignited.

Stroke 3: The Power Stroke – At the beginning of this stroke the ignition device or “spark plug” will be given generated electricity. This event may be equivalent to a grenade exploding inside the cylinder.

Stroke 4: Exhaust Stroke – The final stroke of the internal combustion engine. At the end of the power stroke the exhaust valve will open evacuating the cylinder as the pistons push the gases through the tail pipe.

The automotive internal combustion engine has driven automobiles since it was invented. These engines will continue to drive our autos into the future, as its efficiency has evolved. For more more education on automotive operation and repair visit some mesa auto works AZ
